Hagen Ruff Reviewed

Hagen Ruff, a German engineer, is the co-founder and CEO of Chava Wind LLC as well as Chava Energy LLC. His goal is to disrupt the strategic distribution market for both enterprise and single customer green wind power energy solutions. He is responsible for the general Chava Wind/Energy provision from mechanical design with end-user systems integration as well as the sales and marketing components. Hagen also served as a Board Member and Executive at the Energy Industry joint venture Soliance.

Hagen’s company is best known for developing and designing wind turbines, able to produce 67KWH/Day of power. Chava Energy LLC generates electricity while reducing the usage of fossil fuels by using renewable resources.

Background

Hagen Ruff studied mechanical engineering and started his career in the IT industry. His first job in the industry was with Accenture, at that time called Anderson Consulting. Through travelling for work, he ended up staying in the US and launched his own consultancy company in IT consulting, called Business Information Solutions. Hagen’s company was very successful and grew to more than 240 people in just a few years. He sold his company to SapientNitro (currently PublicisSapient, then Sapient, Inc.) and started researching more types of speculative energy projects.

In 2013, he was contacted to help investors in Japan find wind turbines that were certified reliable but also aesthetically pleasing. While researching wind turbines on a global scale, he found that there wasn’t a product yet that met all those requirements. So he decided to develop his own wind turbine that meets all the aesthetic requirements, has a small footprint, resembles nature, and is certified. His specific mission was: “Making Small Wind Mainstream.” In co-founding CHAVA Wind, Hagen combines his passion for addressing energy demand challenges, with his background in mechanical engineering. He wants to disrupt the strategic distribution market for enterprises as well as individual customers’ green wind power energy solutions.

Hagen Ruff and his team developed The CHAVA Windleaf2500 VAWT.

The blade of the turbine looks like a leaf and resembles nature. The 25 kilowatts wind turbine is close to 100 feet from the ground, and the rotor itself makes up about 45 feet of that. With this wind turbine, Hagen targets rural areas, business parks, farming agriculture, remote telecommunication equipment, government buildings, gas stations with big parking lots, etc.

Hagen Ruff believes the long-term energy future to be in nuclear fusion. He also strongly believes that decentralized power generation will play a big part in meeting the exploding power demand. Power demand is growing worldwide. This is not only due to electric mobility but also due to the increase in standards of living globally. There won’t be enough power to continue to meet these demands in the future, and instead of building new coal and fuel power plants, Ruff is confident that renewables will play a big role until Fusion is commercially available.
